Steps…
If you have (or found) a journal, follow the steps to help it find it’s way to Berlin.
Step 1
Look for the little yellow journal.
Flip through the pages to find a prompt that resonates with you and take a quiet moment to journal out your thoughts in response.
Journal entry
Types of questions you’ll find…
Where is elsewhere?
Who do you love?
When did you last laugh?
Who are others to you?
Tell us where you are in the world, your name, and a way to stay in contact. Plus we’d love a photo of the journal in your current space. We'll update the Journal page each week with the whereabouts of each journal.
Check-in online or by posting on Instagram and mentioning @thejournalprojectetal and your location.

Pass it on
Step 3
(within a week of receiving it)
Meet a stranger or reconnect with an old friend to pass on the journal. Use this as a moment to strike up a good convo, you have a unique reason!
Tell them about the project, what to do, and to pass it on to someone new within a week or less to hit our goal of getting it to Berlin by Sept 25th or sooner. Once it makes it to Berlin, drop it off at C Space (more details below).
Ideas of people to pass to…
A stranger at the store.
A friend or relative.
A new or old coworker.
A person you've wanted to talk to.
The Final Destination
Berlin
When a Journal makes it to Berlin, drop it off at C-Space located at Langhansstraße 86, 13086 Berlin, Germany.
You can leave it with someone in-person, Mon through Fri, 9am-7pm. Or drop it in the mailbox outside.
The final gathering – Sept 25 – Berlin
What Does It Take to Trust (Again)?
On the smallest acts of reconnection.
We’ll be gathering in C-space for a final IRL get-together to celebrate the next phase of the project. We’ll collect all the journals that arrived and come together to explore the questions within their pages. In collaboration with Monika Jiang and her work around Oneliness, we’ll experience together, how we can move through the world with more depth, connection, and trust. This event is open to anyone, regardless of if you held a journal or not. We’ll have two pop-up locations of the journal in Omaha and Berlin for you to write an entry if you did not get a journal passed to you.
Q&A

We’ve invited 30 people dispersed throughout the US and Europe to participate as the starting point for each journal. Each of these folks has a unique background, focused on a life that is creating something beautiful in their pocket of the world.

We think you’ll help us create a method for this madness. 🙂 Help us figure it out! Traveling yourself? Know anyone traveling? Know anyone who knows anyone traveling? Whatever you do, please act wisely, of course.

Your journal entry will remain completely anonymous on the website. The core team of the three of us will read all entries (along with anyone who holds the journal) at the end of the project to find common themes, meaningful stories, and fun notes to reference in our final publication. However no names will be correlated to the entries. If you have any concern with this, you can mention it in the check-in form.

Well, we’d prefer it to travel by hand if it can. The goal is to see if we can get all these to Berlin only by passing it from person to person. Remember, the mail used to go by hand! Of course, the tricky part is to do this when we’re all used to being digital and given the distance we’re aiming for. (For some there will be an ocean involved). We imagine it might travel with people that are traveling. But hey, there are no real rules here. Get creative and let’s see what happens!
